Cost Per Mille

Cost per mille (CPM), also called cost ‰ and cost per thousand (CPT), is a commonly used measurement in advertising. In Latin mille means thousand, therefore, CPM means cost per thousand. Radio, television, newspaper, magazine, Out-of-home advertising and online advertising can be purchased on the basis of what it costs to show the ad to one thousand viewers (CPM). It is used in marketing as a benchmark to calculate the relative cost of an advertising campaign or an ad message in a given medium. Rather than an absolute cost, CPM estimates the cost per 1000 views of the ad. An example of computing the CPM: Total cost for running the ad is $15,000. The total audience is 2,400,000 people. CPM is calculated as CPM = $15,000/(2,400,000/1000) = $6.25

Cost Per Impression

Cost Per Impression is a phrase often used in online advertising and marketing related to web traffic. It is used for measuring the worth and cost of a specific e-marketing campaign. This technique is applied with web banners, text links, e-mail spam, and opt-in e-mail advertising, although opt-in e-mail advertising is more commonly charged on a Cost Per Action (CPA) basis. The Cost Per Impression is often abbreviated to CPI This type of advertising arrangement closely resembles Television and Print Advertising Methods for speculating the cost of an Advertisement. Often, industry agreed approximates are used. With Television the Nielsen Ratings are used and Print is based on the circulation a publication has. For Online Advertising, the numbers of views can be a lot more precise. When a user requests a Web Page, the originating server creates a log entry. Also, a third party tracker can be placed in the web page to verify how many accesses that page had. There are other advertising pri...

Click-Through Rate

Click-through rate or CTR is a way of measuring the success of an online advertising campaign. A CTR is obtained by dividing the number of users who clicked on an ad on a web page by the number of times the ad was delivered (impressions). For example, if your banner ad was delivered 100 times (impressions delivered) and one person clicked on it (clicks recorded), then the resulting CTR would be 1 percent. Banner ad click-through rates have fallen over time, often measuring significantly less than 1 percent. By selecting an appropriate advertising site with high affinity (e.g. a movie magazine for a movie advertisement), the same banner can achieve a substantially higher click-through rate. Personalized ads, unusual formats, and more obtrusive ads typically have higher click-through rates than standard banner ads. CTR is most commonly defined as number of clicks divided by number of impressions and generally not in terms of number of persons who clicked. This is an important difference ...

Pay Per Click Information

Pay per click (PPC) is an advertising model used on websites, advertising networks, and search engines where advertisers only pay when a user actually clicks on an ad to visit the advertiser's website. Advertisers bid on keywords they believe their target market would type in the search bar when they are looking for a product or service. When a user types a keyword query matching the advertiser's keyword list, the advertiser's ad may appear on the search results page. These ads are called "sponsored links" or "sponsored ads" and appear next to, and sometimes, above the natural or organic results on the page. The advertiser pays only when the user clicks on the ad. Pay per click advertising is a search engine marketing technique. Pay per click ads may also appear on content network websites. In this case, ad networks such as Google Adsense and Yahoo! Publisher Network attempt to provide ads that are relevant to the content of the page where they appear, a...

Google Adsense

Google has unleashed an amazing source of advertising and revenue for both advertisers and publishers of websites. It’s called Google Adsense. Adsense gives website publishers of all sizes the ability to display relevant Google ads on their content pages. Because the ads are relevant to your content your click through rates will be very high (you earn revenue as a publisher every time someone clicks on a ad on a your page). It works like this- Google actually READS the content on a website and places relevant ads based on that content. Advertisers bid on keywords to have THEIR ad displayed on those pages. The advertiser only pays if someone clicks on their ad. You need to be approved to be an Adsense Publisher – and to do that you need a website. Your site should have the following features: 1.) Content 2.) Purpose 3.) Other advertising such as an affiliate program or opt in newsletter. It is important to have something on your site OTHER than just content. Google wants relevant GOOD s...

How to Build a Content Rich Website

I know the notion of creating your very own content-rich website might be a little intimidating, but you can do it. It’s not hard. You don’t have to be a good write to have good content on your site. In fact, you don’t have to be a writer at all. There are plenty of successful people who make a lot of money from Google AdSense and they don’t write a word of that content. We’ll talk more about that later, but you can hire writers, or have guest writers—it’s not hard. Anyone can create a content-rich Website by following a few key points: • Have some discipline—maintain your site. • Update that site often. Having a schedule is best. • Be able to beg, borrow, or commission content Nothing is deader than a website that looks like somebody’s forgotten about it. Regularly updating or modifying your site content gives you a big advantage over the competition. Web surfers will keep on coming back to your site if they notice that there’s always something new to see, learn, or enjoy each time. F...
